The fifth DMZ night, undisputed highlight of the dubstep calendar, takes place at 3rd Bass in Brixton on Saturday 5th November.

Digital Mystikz and Loefah’s night DMZ began early in 2005 with a heavy bass drop - and has run tings in dubstep ever since. Started by South London’s Digital Mystikz and Loefah as a culmination of their production, label and DJing, the bi-monthly night has proved a massive success.

Held in Brixton, long since a centre for London’s reggae culture, the night combines Digital Mystikz’ love of soundsystem culture and long-held desires to put on the heaviest dance around. Packing 12k of system into 3rd Base (adjacent to the Mass club), the weight of the rig has to be felt to be believed. When dubsteppers say ‘that riddim was heavy,’ they’re talking about a full-on body experience, not just a good track.

Armed with such a powerful sonic weapon, this demilitarized zone has become a focal point for all dubstep producers, DJs and fans to hear the latest and freshest riddims. Fans and DJs have trekked from around the UK, Europe and even the US to attend, imbibe bass and skank. There is no second room: if you don’t like weightline don’t attend. If you do, prepare to emerge, squinting into the bright Brixton morning sun, grinning from ear to ear.
