Seven Ark, from South African electronica label Unit.r Recordings, is doing really well these days. I saw him perform live a few weeks ago and he completely did my head in with some of the best music I’ve heard in ages.
If you’re into electronica of any kind you then you should really check him out. He’s got an album coming out on Metamatics (which releases artists like Apparat) and a release on the next Detroit Underground compilation (which has seen the likes of like Richard Devineand Apparat on previous releases). There’s something due to come out at Colony Productions as well.
These should all available at Warp Mart (I think) so keep an eye out and snap them up as soon as you can!

Anyone in Cape Town, come to the Armchair Theatre in Obs on Friday 21 to see 7 Ark and the other Unit R guys in action. This sees the first in the Producer_Designer_Writer series of parties. Aimed at showcasing the incredible creative talent in our city, each party will showcase the work of one music producer/band, one designer/artist and a collection of original creative writing. It’s all about supporting how we Cape Townians go about out artistic endeavours and the unique results we come up with. For the first party Unit.R has been asked to provide the music, so it’s gonna be a live on-stage mashup with Seven Ark, Enzo and Leks Mano on two microphones, two synths, bass guitar, acoustic guitar, turntables and a bunch of laptops! The set will be a showcase for a lot of the new material from the label, plus some old favourites, so if you want to see what’s really going on in Cape Town, this is your barometer.
